>>> May 2002: Mapcomp has become MapInspect <<<
Mapinspect features Map Comparison, marker highlighting and graphical display of Pair-wise recombination estimates on the final map.
some history:
- Dec 2001 MapComp was released as Free Windows Software for drawing images of linkage maps, and to compare linkage maps and indicate common markers.
- in Jan 2002 Mapcomp was extended with a new feature: highlighting of (part of) a primer-combination or marker name
- March 2002 Mapcomp was extended with marker-friction display (final marker distance, compared with original pairwise marker recombination estimates); as a result the softwarename will change to "MapInspect"
- April 2002 a poster on Mapinspect was presented at the Lunteren ALW meeting
- May 2002 MapInspect (beta release 1) was
released for download.
Mapinspect is not finished, but functional. Use at your own risk. Comments welcome

>>> Here is a MapInspect "tension plot" screenshot<<<

>>> and a screenshot showing marker highlighting (Here all E35 and P14 markers were hiughlighted using different colors, but wildcards are also allowed) <<<

>>> Finally a screenshot of MapInspect used for comparisons of maps and connection of common markers between neighbouring maps<<<

MapInspect can display, print and save these images, and has no limit to the number of maps it can compare (but only neighbouring maps are compared). Maps can be flipped within MapINspect, an the on-screen order of the maps can be changed.
Note:
MapInspect was developed from a stripped down version of GGT. If you like MapInspect, maybe you'll like GGT...
Coming from our Wageningen UR colleagues is Mapchart that also allows map comparison.
Still on the wishlist:
- better prints !
- cleanup of GGT junk still left here and there...
- ...your suggestion..
